Umea University at Sweden has conducted a cohort study involving 78 healthy young men. A positive association was found between serum levels of Omega 3 fatty acid buy bcaa peak bone mineral density. The bone mineral density of the hip and spine were measured at baseline-at the age of 16.7 years along with the age of 22 and 24 years old. The measurement of fatty acid concentration along with bone mineral density brought authors to the conclusion that Omega 3 fatty acids, especially DHA are positively associated with bone mineral accrual and with peak BMD in young men.

The study involving 18 patients with ankylosing spondylitis was performed in the Department of Medical Rehabilitation at Gallivary Hospital in Sweden. The patients were randomized to receive either a daily dose of 4.55 grams or lower dose of 1.95 grams of Omega 3 fatty acids for a period of 21 weeks. Using the base ankylosing activity index, a significant decrease in disease activity were observed among patients in the high dose group alone. Therefore, the conclusion of this study were that Omega 3 fatty acids in adequate doses may have the capacity to decrease the activity of ankylosing spondylitis.

An increase in dietary Omega 3 fatty acids were found to decrease the marker of bone resorption in humans. This study was conducted at the Department of Integrated bulk deanol bitartrate at Pennsylvania State University main campus in 2007. The markers of bone resorption are checked in the urine. They reflect the turnover of the bone tissue. In other words, it reveals the rate of the human body "losing bones". In this study N-Telopeptides were used. Three different types of diets have been compared. The results indicated that diets high in Omega 3 fatty acids may have a protective effect on bone metabolism, where a decrease in bone resorption in the presence of normal levels of bone formation.

The study showed that Omega 3 fatty acids are irreplaceable components for healthy way of life that depends on healthy bones as well.
